On Monday Y6 had a Computer Tech Day where in small groups they took apart some old PCs completely, learned about the functions of the various parts (and a bit of computing history) and then put them back together again. As you can see from the photos they really did […]

The traditional Y6 Christmas videos return after being thwarted by the pandemic in 2020. Year 6 were given a media project to create a Christmas video using the multimedia hardware and software we have in school. This is the last of the six videos posted daily in the run up […]

In Hornet Class’ final English unit of the term they have been studying ‘A Visit From St. Nicolas’ – more commonly known as ”Twas The Night Before Christmas’. They’ve created a glossary of some of the more unusual words, identified rhyming words, and produced some amazing handwriting for display. They […]
Following on from their first week using the cameras Year 1 had to try and capture ‘movement’. It’s not an easy thing to do because of the inevitable delay between pressing the button and the photograph being taken. They managed it though, and there are some lovely images here. Well […]
This morning Y6 completely took apart some old desktop computers. Ever component, including the drives, memory, fans, processor and mother board were removed. In the process they learned about what each part of a computer does, and some of the ways computers have developed over the years. Once each of […]
Year 1 were given cameras to use in pairs, and taken out onto the field where they were able to take photographs of anything they liked! In all over 700 photos were taken of a huge range of subjects, along with 15 minutes of accidental video! Although all of the […]
Gecko Class have been looking at the work of Edward Tingatinga, a Tanzanian artist who painted in the late 1960s and who gave his name to a whole style of painting. They have also been studying mammalsin science. These pieces of computer art are a combination of the two topics. […]
The traditional computer paintings of Geckos by Year 1 are finally here, and wonderful they are too. It’s not easy manipulating a trackpad to create images, but I think they’ve all done a great job!
In the end of term confusion these Christmas animations weren’t made public. Apologies to Year 5 but, in the spirit of wearing Christmas t-shirts all year round, here they are at last. These were all made at home and, apart from a Star Wars-themed stop frame (well done Thomas!), all […]
Year 5 are creating stop frame animations. During the two Computing lessons after their recap on 2Animate Panther Class have created animations using Lego, and by drawing on whiteboards. The principals are “simple, small, still” and it’s great to see how they are improving.
Panther Class are going to be creating stop frame animations between now and Christmas. To get them back in the mindset of ‘Simple & Small’ (simple concept, small changes) they revisted 2Animate. Here’s how they did…
In the penultimate graphics lesson for Toucan Class this term they had to import and manipulate a moveable figure in 2Paint-a-Picture, and then use their trackpad skills to colour and enhance them. It’s not an easy thing to do but the results are great. You can see the moveable figures […]
In the second of their computer art lessons this year, Toucan Class used the Impressionist option in Purple Mash’s 2Paint-A-Picture to portray the colour and movement of fire. This ties in with their study of the Great Fire of London.
As is tradition, Toucan Clas spent their first full Computing Lesson of the year painting Toucans! They’re displayed below, and for a while on the outside screen. Watch out for more computer art from the class over the coming weeks.
Y4 have been using Google Drawings to create Warholesque images of themselves… They had to create at least three different versions of their faces using the formatting options available to them, and then move and crop the images to make them into a neat block. I’m really pleased with how […]
Year 1 are learning about the United Kingdom and symbols, so of course we have been finding out about the Union Flag. Yesterday, using 2Paint in Purple Mash, the children painted copies of the UK’s flag. It’s not an easy flag to replicate, and it’s made even trickier when you’re […]
To start 2020 Year 1 had a play with the MashCams in Purple Mash. Not everyone was at school on Thursday but most of the class (and a couple of adults) are here in their virtual dressing up clothes. Although this is a fun activity, it’s suprisingly tricky, and I […]
Year 2 have been creating animations using 2Animate in Purple Mash. These were some of their first attempts, trying to make a dot look like it was slowly growing to fill the page. I think they’re great, if a little hypnotic! There will be more animations to follow as the […]
As is now a Holy Trinity Computing tradition, Year 6 were given a media project to create a Christmas video using the multimedia hardware and software we have in school. This is the last of the six videos posted daily in the run up to Christmas. As always, this work […]
The children in Year 5 have created these Christmassy images for you using 2Paint-A-Picture in Purple Mash.
