Lunch

Our new menu, running from Tuesday 19th April, is here! More details on how & when to order via Scopay will appear here and be sent out via the app soon!

Meanwhile, until Easter…

During the second half of the Spring Term there will be a change to the way that our kitchen runs here at school.

After many years cooking and feeding our children the catering team have moved on. After advertising to refill these roles, we looked at working with local catering companies and other schools. On a number of occasions we were promised a service only to have the offer changed or retracted.

We have finally found a catering company that meets our high standards and after Easter we will be working with them to get high quality food on the table for your children’s lunches. We are pleased with the discussions we have been having with this new company and are very hopeful that things will move forward positively.

This leaves us in an unfortunate situation where we will be without a hot offer of school meals until then.

The new menu has a variety of cold options available.

  • A sandwich – tuna mayonnaise, mature cheddar or local ham, with a choice of white or wholemeal bread
  • A packet of crisps
  • A piece of fresh fruit
  • A packet of raisins
  • A biscuit or cake bar.

As the lunches are being provided externally, we have to provide numbers 48 hours in advance, and there will be no availability on the day.

Meals MUST be booked in advance via www.holytrinityhalstead.com/pay even if you are eligible for free school meals.

Meals are free for Foundation and KS1 children. The cost for KS2 pupils is £2.30-a-day and must be paid for in advance via www.holytrinityhalstead.com/pay

If you feel you may be eligible for free school meals please see the information below the menus here, ask at the school office for a form, or apply online via the GOV.UK website.

Meals codes on Scopay as as follows:

  • N – Tuna mayonnaise on white bread
  • P – Tuna mayonnaise on wholemeal bread
  • Q – Mature cheddar on white bread
  • W – Mature cheddar on wholemeal bread
  • Y – Local ham on white bread
  • Z – Local ham on wholemeal bread

Free School Meals

If you feel you may be entitled to claim please do so, even if your child/children will bring a packed lunch to school or your child is in Foundation/KS1 and receiving a free school meal anyway. Registering your claim allows our school to apply for additional funding. This money will be used to support your child’s learning in the school environment and help them to reach their full potential by allowing us to fund extra tuition and additional teaching staff.

In order for you to be able to claim FSM and for us to claim this additional funding, we are asking you to provide us with your Name, Date of Birth and National Insurance Number (or asylum seeker reference). It is important to note that no other parents or pupils will know you have been assessed and it will not affect any other benefits you are claiming. All data received will be held in the strictest confidence and only forwarded to the LA for the purpose of assessing school funding.
